and TOEIC
Both tests are developed and administered by ETS
(Educational Testing Service, a private non-profit U.S.-based corporation).
TOEFL evaluates the use and understanding of the American dialect of English, required for non-native applicants at many U.S. colleges and universities, and by many government agencies, businesses, and scholarship programs.

TOEIC was developed based on TOEFL following a request from Japanese economic and industry organizations. It includes oral comprehension as well as reading comprehension of English, in a business context. TOEIC is mostly used in Japan and South Korea.
